Lefty AR's - need help !
A buddy of mine is looking to get into highpower shooting. He's looking to get an AR but he's left handed and wants a left handed AR in a Caliber larger than .223/5.56
Anyone knows of a company that would build one in a .243 or larger in a lefty.
Looked at Stag website & DPMS - make the right calibers but not in left handed models.
Help very much appreciated.

I'm a lefty, and really the only changes needed to a right handed AR is an Ambi-Safety and a "Tac Latch" style charging handle that makes things easier for us southpaws. And a lefty can pretty easily run a right handed gun, anyway, using the trigger finger on the safety, wiping it off as the gun comes up. CC

I shoot Lefty and found no real problem with using an AR. The safety is no problem and I can close it without any problem either. I know when I was drafted in 69 the old A1 didn't have a deflector and some southpaws ended up with the impression of hot brass on their forehead. Have your buddy try an AR and let him see if he really has a problem.

I'm a Lefty as well and have been shooting HighPower for the last 10yrs and shoot Master class and I have no problems at all with a regular AR.. on my blaster ARs I do run a ambi-safety...

The "bumper" fixed the only problem for lefties I know of with the AR. I shot them left handed at the end of my military career with no problem. I find the standard safety and the charging handle very lefty friendly. Lefty safety's are readily available if you want one.
