m2 ball ammo questions.
I had a few questions about these. I got these last weekend at a yard sale. I know the manufactures are remington and lake city. They are ball and armor piercing. Made in 53 and 57. There was a sealed and opened one in each crate. I ended up with 2 bandoliers of ap, 1 bandolier and 3 clips of ball, besides sealed ones. Are these common manufactures. Are the crates hard to find. I couldn't find any pictures or info on line. Finally , what are they worth? I appreciate any info. Thank you.

Put the crates on Ebay and they'll find their own value. Someone will want them.

The Remington is Korean war vintage and while they made a lot of it there is not a huge amount left. The LC was a constant thing but being AP it will being top dollar. As stated put the crates on ebay and see what they bring. Something is better then nothing. The M2 is worth about what CMP
is getting for the HXP and I think that is about $160 for the can. The AP could be an easy $1.00 to a $1.50 per round.

Agreed! In my neck of the woods I see Garand
clips of AP going for $15 EACH at gunshows...and I buy one every now and then at that price!

The reason I am asking about the case is because when my cousin saw it ( also a collector) he seemed really excited about, so I told him he could have a crate. That was before I knew what they were worth so now question for you all. If you were going to part with a crate which would you keep?

Yours is quite a lot nicer but this one went for $20 on eBay:
WWII Taega Ball M2 .30 Caliber 8 round clips Bandoleers Wood Crate Ammo Box
With that in mind, it would really depend on how much I paid for the ammo if I was concerned about selling the crates. If I got a great deal on the ammo, I'd probably just keep the crates for display. If I overpaid for the ammo, I'd probably put the crates on eBay at a $40 buy it now and accept offers down to $30. Seems to be a fair price.
