"Bill the Bastard"
I have known about this Australian horse for a long time and thought I would share a snippet of him for those that may have never heard of him or his exploits in WWI.
Not all Heroe'a have 2 legs ~ sadly of the 130,000 horses Australia & N Z sent away in WWI I think only only 2 ever came home 1 to Australia the other to N Z "Bill the Bastard" was not one them after the war he was left with the villagers at Galipolli.
The others that were left at the end were either given to the "Gypo's" for a life of misery or led to a quiet place by their riders to be shot by them a heartbreaking thing the lighthorsemen detested doing.
For they had formed a special bond with the "Walers" the only horse that could handle the conditions of the desert. (Sorry about the ad but the clip is well worth watching.)
