Bikes

This has been my daily rider for about forty years. More monthly than daily for the last decade or so. For the non English bike aficionados this is a 1960 Royal Enfield Constellation or perhaps a Super Meteor re-badged, re-configured and sold as an Indian for the American market after Indian went under in the 1950s. Around 1976 I was looking for parts for another bike at a motorcycle wrecking yard in south Seattle when I saw the timing cover of this under a pile of machines destined for the crusher. A deal was struck and after a two year refurbishment and normal maintenance, it has been a one or two kick starter since. Of the dozens or more bikes I have bought, restored and sold, this one I have never been inclined to sell. Pic 1) About 1983. My daughter Sarah at six years old. 2) In Nevada high desert. Sarah about twelve. 3) Sarah at thirty six and me with two of my grandchildren, four years ago. She and her husband like Yamaha. 4) The still viable Enfield at fifty seven years old a week or so ago. You can just see Mt. Rainier over the top of the handlebar. When I take the Webleys to the range, this is my preferred transportation. Best to all. Tom
