Adjustable foresights for No4 etc

This rather cute little adjustable foresight kit for the good old No4 recently sold on eBay. I was holding my breath in relation to the final price but in the end £360 was a shade too rich for me!

Nice thing and in pristine condition.

That's a Brindles set.
John Good who died last year made them under the Brindles name; Brindles was the name of his house in Lightwater near Bisley.
John was also a cousin of Robin Fulton who employed him after John had finished his apprenticeship as the Brooklands aircraft factory. He told me a few years ago that he thought Robin wasn't paying him enough so he left and set up his own business.

Brindles also produced a number of rear sights and triggers, I believe he sold quite lot of sights to the South Africans.

John was a one man band and couldn't produce everything himself. I believe the wooden boxes which hold the foresights in the first post were made by an ex Queens prize winner, when I spoke to John he told me this but couldn't remember the fellows name!

I've got one here, with some of the contents missing. Not that much, but not cheap either. An ink stamp on the inside says, "Brindle" in Chivers Marmalade writing, and '?? Macdonald ??, Lightwater Surrey'

James, his address in Lightwater was Brindles, MacDonald road!

The lead numbers in the box are fashioned out of airgun pellets!
