Two Type 99 rifles

My cousin was drafted into the US Marines not long after high school graduation in June 1944. He trained at the Parker range in Hawaii and landed on Iwo Jima on the first day.
He spent 31 days on Iwo Jima (5th Marines) and later was sent to Nagasaki. While at Nagasaki he had the chance to select two Japanese rifles to be sent home. He sent these rifles to my father (one for my uncle) and they have been in our family since . My Uncle died in 1974 and both rifles have been together, I did shoot both rifles with Norma 7,7 jap and both worked with any problems.

Need some clearer pictures. Both appear to be Kokura Arsenal. I believe #44108 may be a 6th series?

Since Kokura did not make a 6th series , I would go with Kokura S-23 for # 44108 . #10990 looks to be a Kokura S-21 . Both look to have miss-matched bolts .

Hard for my old eyes to really see the series mark that well. Not to get off track, but what series were produced by Kokura?

If I'm not mistaken, I saw these beauties at the US Army Museum in Honolulu. Man the history and the weapons (Original and replicas) are amazing.
