Recommendations for a good gunsmith, Wiltshire England.
Hi Guys
Would like to get the wood fit of my No4 MK1 checked to see if all is as it should be. I have spoken with one but he beds the forend half way down so the up pressure can not be gauged.
Anybody know of a good smith in the Wiltshire area.
Regards Chubbs

Phil Rose in the New Forest would be my choice. PM me for contact details.

You could go to the next County along and try Fultons. They know a bit about No4's and Enfields in general. They've been doing it since the late 1800's as I recall

On the other hand, if it's a simple No4, then why bother of going to all that expense and palava. The answer to your querie is a simple range and accuracy test. The MoD/Army/REME accuracy criteria has been published on here many times. If your rifle fits neatly into that criteria then all is well and you really need to do no more. If you just want to see what's going on under the woodwork then that's a simple matter to. All you need is a couple of screwdriver, a tube of engineers blue and a n accurate spring balance. But always remember this. If it ain't broke then don't fix the bloody thing!
I know others say differently, offer other opinions etc etc and I respect their views. if, as a bit part Armourer, for some reason I couldn't do something to my rifle, guess who I'd trust with it? Yep, right first time!
