Lithgow
HT, nice find! Not sure about the volley sights though.

I would not recommend to have the barrel changed and rather keep it that way and not shoot it. It's more worth as it is now than with a replacement barrel, at least to me and probably all other collectors.

Also just emailed off to a certain gentleman who's written a well known book on them and he replied and confirmed the serial number on it is listed in his book.
He also said having the volley sight on the front isn't unheard of.
His response....
"The HT sniper rifles were converted from heavy barrel fitted target rifles, many of which were turned in to the army by rifle club shooters.
So these rifles were already fine-tuned for civilian and army team target shooting.
At Lithgow
, everything that was up to spec was left, so original furniture & fittings was not replaced, hence that rifle has early Mk III dial sight, &c.
Cheers"
I suppose the easy bit is having the rifle now the hard bit tracking down an original scope and rings/mounts.
Am I dreaming with the next task of acquiring a scope?
Thank you guys also for for the input and confirmation appears all the gurus are confirming suspicions.
Regards
Jared

Not to my knowledge.
Was told that was a ring in.
Was advised to just go get an unmarked/numbered one and run with that.
