Navy Collision Report
Anyone read the Navy Collision report on the Fitzgerald and the John S. McCain with commercial vessels? What do you think ?

Here is the full report on both cases; Looks like a systemic failure of over worked crews with fatigue and poor decisions thing is why rely on visual sightings when they have up to date radar plotting targets surely they could plot a ships direction informing the bridge of impending doom.
I am no "Swabbie" far from it but relying on visual awareness I mean tankers/cargo ships are not what one would call a small ship easy to miss visually at say 2000 yds!
Especially when you think they were displaying running lights as its not war time?

No comments from former USN members? I served on cruisers during WWII. It looks to me like complacency replaced competency in both cases.

it's hard for me to imagine how bad things have gotten under obama's terms - my only hope is that is being turned around now.
