Brought An Old Faithful To The Range Yesterday

Yesterday evening I decided to go and relax a bit to the small range close to home.
Only small calibers and short range are possible, so I took my Walther PP Sport in .22.
It is my Father's pistol, which he gave me last year because the new "security laws" require that you have an always updated permit to own guns, so at 82 he decided that he had enough of it.
Same sight settings as he had, and.......good to go.
I don't shoot much with handguns anymore, so I have to be careful not to pull the shots (a few went low at the end of the series), but I'm really pleased with the Walther.
I still have everything: original box, proof target, manuals, light front sight, two magazines.
Full outfit.
I must say that although it is a pea shooter, the discipline and technique a .22 handgun require is really impressive.
I'm looking forward to be learning a lot (again).
Distance 15 meters.

Yes, it’s like that. If you also consider that my mom loves that pistol and was herself very proficious with it...
I was thinking about taking her to the range next time they visit me. Dad has some trouble with his eyes, but Mom sees like a hawk;-D

I have elderly eyes. If I'm shooting a pistol with iron sights, I wear prescription shooting glasses. Basically bifocals; main lenses are my distance prescription, bifocal gives me a clear front sight. For my competition shooting, I use a S&W M&P Pro Core with a Leupold Deltapoint optic mounted. Night and day difference.
Speaking of fun to shoot peashooters, I have a Beretta Model 71 .22. In Canada it is a 12-6 prohibited handgun, because of its short barrel. Remarkably good shooter; accurate and reliable.

'Ovidio' - This is a very nice Walther .22 cal. Target Pistol. You really puzzled me in the first photo by using a 'center-fire' cartridge case to prop up the pistol.

You are a good son in planning to take your Mother to the Range on her next visit!

The closest thing I have to your fine Walther is a Chinese 'Norinco' replica of the "Olympia". Actually, the quality on my imitation is pretty good and it is a "Tack Driver".

I try to give back some of what I have received, which is a lot!!!
I'd love to bring my Dad too, but he has some trouble with his eyes and does not want to come and shoot bad. He was a crack-shot, so I can understand him, though I would love to have him fire some rounds.

Considering the centre-fire round, that is one of my dummy .303 rounds. A bit too big for the pea-shooter

Old Faithful gave me some satisfaction yesterday evening.
Cold evening, but good shooting.
Just the shot before the last landed apart, by a few centimetres.
The other 19 are in a very small diameter.
I was really glad about this target.
Even the previous ones were similar, but this was a tad tighter.

Old Faithful came to a shooting contest today. Our club was deciding who was to be the King of The Hill.
Daddy 1st, son 8th, in front of quite a few experienced shooters.
What a satisfaction!!!
I did not make any pictures, so it never happened, but I’m still a very proud dad today.
148 + 4 for me (less than my latest standards) and 135 + 3 for the Offspring.
Of 15 shots.

She'll come probably in May. I'm just waiting for her and Dad to come visit us up here in the North-East and bring them to try their old Walther, my P-One (Bernardelli, 9x21) and the two Smitties (27 and 29).
My Dad is now 83 and has some trouble with the eyes, but was a real crack-sot. Mom has always been very good too.
I still remember when at 14-15 years of age we made our little family contests.
Wonderful memories.
We'll get it done with the bragging rights, don't worry.
