    I agree with lemaymiami , it was a sad time for returning military. My first return was through Oakland Calif airport and it was horrible. Protesters, hari krishna, personal slurs, all that you have read. It was hurtful. Our unit decided to bring us back through military bases after that. Coronado Navel Air Field and Travis AFB for my second and third tours. It was a lot quieter and peaceful.
    The idiots protesting the single soldier should have realized we didn't ask to go there, we were sent. Our option would have been Leavenworth. If they wanted to make a stand, do it in front of their state or national buildings. In front of the people who sent us over. Try spitting on them and see where it gets you.
    It still irritates me when I think about it.
