refinishing garand clips
I have a few old garand enbloc clips, that are rusting, how do I refinish them and get the rust off for good? were they originally parkerized or what ? can anyone in the forum let me know how to proceed? thanks, duggaboy

Yes, they were parkerized. Part of the process of prepping the metal for parkerizing is to bead blast or sandblast down to bare metal, and that will remove the rust. Then reparkerize using a kit available from several sources. I just got a kit from Midway http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=731489
Other sources are PARKERIZING and BENCHTOP PARKERIZING KIT at Brownells

Try Evapo-Rust.
It will remove the rust without harming the underlying metal. It will also remove any blueing, not sure about parkerizing.
All you do is soak the clip (or other item) in Evapo-Rust for anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours and the rust is gone. Then rinse in hot water and dry it off. It's that simple!
It's fantastic stuff... I use it a lot (restoring helmets, entrenching tools, bayonets, tools, cast iron, SMLE charger clips, etc.)
Check out their web-site for more info... Evapo-Rust rust remover description page
Hope this helps.
