Tool Making
Next up is making target turrets for my Lisenfeld 6x42 scope, to replicate the functionality and looks of the Khales ZF69. However, I have run into one of those issues that hobby gunsmiths run into, where you first have to make a tool to make a thing.
The finest thread my lathe will currently cut is 56 TPI, but I need it to cut 72 TPI so I can make the turret bases to screw onto the scope. The smallest change gear I have is a 30 tooth gear, but I need a 20 tooth gear in order to cut the thread needed.
I plan to make the necessary change gear with a single point cutter and index it with a cheap 5C spin indexer. Let me know if you guys want the blow-by-blow or just want to see the finished product.
Standby for updates and SolidWorks drawings of the turret design.

Handstop w/spigot - part 1
The target turrets are on hold for a while, so I decided to make a handstop w/spigot for my PH bipod.
I'm not sure if the Canadian
Forces issued PH bipods with the C3, but mine is getting one. Maybe someone can attest to the historical accuracy of this.
Anyway, I feel like I got my Kyber-Pass "groove-on" today as there was LOTS of file work.
BTW. The contouring is not finished...

Handstop w/spigot - Finished
I finished off the bipod handstop this week. I reverse engineered the handstop from photos and sized the spigot to fit my bipod. I made a few changes including the addition of an anti-rotation pin and I made the thumbscrew without the ability to take QD sling swivels. I have plenty of swivels on the rifle (3), so didn't need another.
The handstop is aluminum and has baked on flat black enamel. The other parts are steel and are parkerized.
Happy New Year!

Almost Done
Here are some shots of the current progress.
The Lisenfeld 6x42 Spezial scope is installed in TPS 26mm medium steel rings. These are great rings, but not quite authentic to the period of the rifle. However, one of my build parameters was to use Weaver bases rather than proprietary PH bases so that I could easily switch between scopes.
The TPS rings came with 7/16 hex nuts rather than thumbscrews like RAHS rings. In order to more closely replicate the look of the PH rings I made a couple of prototype thumbscrews, to see how they would look. I matched the size to the pair of RAHS3 rings that I have, but I only have diamond knurling tools, so they don't quite look right.
I'm going to order some fine straight knurling tools and make a couple more. I think the second set will look better.
The sling is also not period (sorry), but an OD Magpul MS1. If anyone has pics of the sling or slings that were used on the C3, please share.
