Desert Storm shotgun w/ M1917 bayonet
Ok you shotgun gurus, here's a quiz for you.
In the bayonet section, JoeB posted some photos of the shotgun he carried as an MP during Desert Storm. Interesting enough, this shotgun was mated with a M1917 bayonet.
Can you ID this shotgun? The only thing I know about shotguns is that little round lead balls come out of the barrel (sometimes it is a big slug of lead).
You cam see the photos here, post #38:

Yes, we think it's a Winchester 1200 series...because of the chevron shape of the small of the butt at the receiver, the 37 has a straight line there. The long bulky pump, 37 is short and corncob, and the silver lifter in the bottom of the receiver also... The Ithaca has a set of open tongs to handle the shells. Bottom load, bottom eject... Winchester 1200 series...makes sense too.

The good news is it is easy to replicate with a little time and a $100 pawn shop 1200.

Yep, Winchester 1200. Qualified with them at Fort Bragg in 1985. Three rounds into a 55 gallon drum full of sand at 25 meters, (maybe it was even closer, can't remember), meant you were qualified! We were jealous because the USMC had Remington 870's which are a much better shotgun.

Lookin' pretty fine too...love to do that with a '37 but can't get the right repro heat shield.

Yes but I don't think I can get it here. I'd almost have to import it the hard way I think...it's not so easy cross border. I'm aware of that site and drool over those handguards...if we could have them here... We'd be awash in trench guns, we can't find originals here much.

Prohibited item or just import restricted?

It's under the $500 limit Jim so doesn't require an export license. We can do it if you're really in need.

Let me look at it Brian and get back, I'd need a decent '37 to do it with...but would love to.
