I've never seen one broken, and JB weld won't repair it anyway...

M1A1
Stock's real. I guess the first question is, was it really broken or is the selling just assuming it was. 2nd, what's a JB welt and is that what it is? Ray

Painter777,
It certainly looks real to me, from the ones we have in the Airborne Museum.
The damage could have occurred in many operational ways, all to do with jumping and how the soldier stored his weapon, or fell on it. They would be hairline cracks which when exposed could be tackled by less of a Bubba method and could be nearly, invisibly fixed IMHO
Part number matches exactly

Hi Charlie, I would say from the pics it looks like an original. They are very sturdy. Something in the folding mechanism must have failed and it was forced resulting in weakening until it broke. I'm with Jim though. JB weld can do a lot of things, that is not one of them. It should have been Mig or Tig welded. Did you see how much it sold for?
Best Regards.....Frank

Frank is right. It is a real M1A1
stock and that JB weld will not hold in both spots. It would be easy to properly weld it to repair it.

Isn't wire. And J.B. Weld is just epoxy glue with powdered metal instead of fibreglass. A real weld job would be better than glue. The stock being basically steel tubing.
Rummage around here. There are some seriously good, close up, pictures about 3/4's down the page.

You could never make a weld that would hold with JB weld. If you were to put some type of insert in the tube to make a splice the JB might stick it together for a brief period of time
