How can i repair or cover up these scratches without refinishing

I bought a K98 icon

and it has a lot of scratches on the side of the stock which kind of bother me. i am not considering refinishing the stock no matter what but is there some kind of way I can hide these scratches?

Not to get too far off point, but why would you want to? To me, each nick, dent or scratch is just a small story in its history.

I would generally agree but its more than just a scratch as you see. Its at least 30 different scratches in one small area, as if someone took a knife and just started slicing up the finish in that particular area

If it is dented then you could use steam to raise the wood. (Wet towel over area then put a hot iron on it, let it steam up and check your progress)But if they are cut's like you are saying I can't help there.
