The trouble is that we, Milsurps and other similar sites are a victim of our own success, the internet has opened the world as a shop. The days are long gone when the only person who you could sell and buy stuff from was at your local club, shop or show. The "what's it worth" is probably one of the most often asked question and the answer is of course what someone is prepared to pay for it, I'm sure that we can remember the £1300 plastic bottle for the L42 set!!!!!!!
Auction sites are always good and bad, good when you pick up a bargain and bad when something is sold for what seems silly money but they are here to stay and whether someone breaks a classic car or a collectable rifle for spares I'm afraid that the situation is here to stay whether we like it or not.

I posted in the Ross sub forum about Alberta Gunstocks. Most of Bill's stocks are less than $300.00 CAD. The only downside is they are a repo and you still need to source all the metal parts.
The upside is where else can you find MLM,MLE,No1, No4 and all variations of Ross stocks and handguards along with other rifles machined from good quality walnut.
Hard to find nose caps and bands are made by forum members Divealta and evanguy and Numrich and E-bay are still sources for economical parts

Well, if the Strine dollar is only worth 20 cents, then the price was OK. Otherwise, it just seems plain barmy. However, if anyone cares to send me $600, then they could have the wood from my MkIII and I'll go out and buy a couple more...

I was particularly lucky early December and picked up a NOS fore end locally. It was an unused 44 Slaz and has the copper pads fitted in the draws. And the price, a princely $90. I was restoring a barreled action, a 43 Lithgow with a practically unused HB already fitted.
That cost me a whole $200, managed to finish the rifle with parts on hand. Bargains still exist and sometimes you just stumble into them
