Round Type 99 bolt knob
Got this sporterized Toyo Kogyo Type 99 in trade today. Too bad it was cut down...full mum and all. But the odd thing about it is the bolt handle knob. Its round, like a Kaiser. Anyone ever seen one like this? It hasn't been ground on, or welded on either. Check it out.

Like a Mauser, not Kaiser.

Another angle. Long bent handle as well. Thought maybe it was a Type 97 bolt, not sure.

Not a 38...this one is really odd. It looks like a bent straight handle Mauser, but its not..you can see where the number matches at the root and on the extractor.

Here's the rifle in question. Not a sporter fan, but this might make a pretty good little coyote rifle.

The font of the numbers are Toyo-Kogyo, so definitely not an original sniper bolt.

Its not matched to the rifle either. I don't know what to make of it. All bolts I've seen were 'egg' shaped or 'squared' on 'last ditch' examples with relatively shorter handles.

This looks like that the gunsmith removed the original bolt at the square part of the bolt stem. Thus the original serial number remains on that square part. Note also that the bolt handle is either parkerized or at the very least is finished different from the bolt body. To me this sure looks like a 1903 springfield bolt handle that has been carefully welded to the Toyo Koygo bolt body.
