We've seen excerpts from this, specifically the M1A1
stock pics. This is just another illustration of why "Restoring" a carbine is wrong, it could have been one specifically done by FN post war and part of it's history.

Funny but out of the dozens of M1A1
carbines I have seen and or handled, I have yet to find a stock made by FN. But then not all of the carbines went to FN when the war ended. Most have been rebuilt at Augusta with a few at RIA or SA.

Good point, I've not even had one pointed out during all our discussion...

I thought the CMP
had returns that they said, the M1A1
stocks were made overseas. Does anyone remember that?

I'm sure I read it somewhere but can't recall where,
That the US had taken German
wood blanks for stocks, that came from the Black Forest.
Ring a bell... Anyone?

I was told that part of WW1 reparation payment was stock blanks, they had been cut for '98 rifle so they were close enough to make 1903 stocks...

I find it hard to believe that FN made any M1A1
stocks during their rebuild contract. They would also have had to produce the metal and leather parts and I have not seen any evidence of that.
