The H barrel was the child of LE barrels. Just shortened to fit the No1Mk3. Was also used for the range pattern LE to conform to Military specs for competition.

Bindi, I know that much: They are the same profile just turned shorter than LE spec. Is there anyway to tell if this rifle should actually have a 'H' barrel or a normal MLE barrel.

Barrel date stamp and the rifle date will give an idea if it is a black powder barrel changed out to cordite Mk6 or a replacement Lithgow icon

barrel for a Long Lee then shortened to Range rifle pattern or a H ... the date.
