I suspect it may well be a Voigtlander. I'm not saying it couldn't be WW1 British sniping issue, but I'm not clear how he justifies that claim. The range drum has typical civvy markings & I think it is probably a just pre or post WW1 instrument retailed by Alex Henry for a sporting rifle. Somewhere I have a Watts scope with the same rings, which mate to a side mounted base. I have two of the bases, one contoured for a MLE or MLM, & the other for a SMLE.

Hi Roger,
Thanks again, that's what I thought, and I've even seen a picture of a CLLE fitted with that mount,for sale in Australia, but it's got a good sized bid on it so I wondered if I was missing something.
