That's similar to the condition I got my 1917 in. Luckily it was just a little rattle-can chrome.
Sure was a chore getting the paint out of the wood pores, though. Got a helluva deal on it

I'd love to find something that simple...that wasn't consumed by the black powder blanks. Just paint stripper and rinse...

Yea, as I have reported, if it was used to fire blanks then it usually fired a lot of them and the throat is gone.
Bore looks good, muzzle measure good, throat is past 8.

This one shoots pretty decent. Might have to get a throat gauge just for kicks.
