Mexican Model 1910 Mauser
Found a Mexican Model 1910 today!
I cannot remember the last one I saw around here. Lots of Argentines, Spanish, Brazilian
, Chilean, but no Mexican examples. 1931 date, bore is absolutely like new. No import mark.
Looks like someone scratched the name 'NINO' on the wood.
Glad to have found it!

Great FIND! If I were to find one I would grab it too. This is a really nice looking rifle.

Very nice.
It had its own life, you can tell, but I appreciate that in old milsurps.
Enjoy it.

Thanks..the shop had just got it, it was sitting over in a corner behind the counter. I thought it was just another Chilean
or Spanish at first. When the guy said 'Mexican', off to the ATM I went!

What's the hole in the butt plate for? Nice rifle by the way, I don't think I've ever seen one for sale in my area.

I have absolutely no idea why that hole was drilled there. I wondered about that when I got it.
Appreciate the compliments on it. Mexican Mausers are extremely few and far between here.

The hole looks like it's supposed to be there but since you didn't know what it was, I did some looking and all the photos of 1910 butt plates don't have the hole. It's about the size of a cleaning rod by appearances.

What about a clearance hole to aid in bolt disassembly?

Thought about that, but haven't seen any buttplate on other rifles with this hole.
Finally took it down today to give it a good cleaning, found some interesting markings below the wood.
