new M1 carbine owner, new to forum. just plain new

I purchased an M1 carbine (with other guns) at an estate sell. the manufacture is IBM core with the 1st 3 serial numbers are 370. the barrel is a blue sky barrel. I wanted to get an idea when the gun was manufactured. I'm thinking around 1943 but I cold be wrong.

anyone have an ideas of when it was made?

October of 1943 ended with serial number 3662999 and January of 1944 ended with serial number 3899999.
If we assume that IBM averaged roughly the same amount of production every month, this would mean that your carbine was manufactured sometime around the first week of November, 1943.

thank you. also, the barrel has blue sky/ Arlington va on the side of the barrel. does that have any significance?

The blue sky on the barrel is the importer mark. To a collector this will bring the value down.

"...To a collector this will bring the value down..." A Carbine with a Blue Sky barrel(that may be damaged. They sometimes hit the stamps so hard they dented the barrel.) is not a collector piece. So only the receiver was made between August 1943 and May 1944. If there's an 'AO' below the S/N, your receiver was made by Auto-Ordnance for IBM.
Blue Sky imported receivers and rebuilt Carbines and M1 Rifles mostly from South Korea in the mid 1980's.
Rummage around here. Best Carbine site there is.

I have had two Blue Sky carbines and both of them a Winchester and an Inland shot just as well as any of the other carbines I had or have. In fact the Winchester would shoot an inch and a half size groups consistently. The Inland would shoot at two inches. The barrel distortion from the stamping is an internet myth with no known facts. I have seen too many of these carbines that shoot well with others who own them.
