I remember reading as a teenager about the evolution from Schneider Cup racer to Spitfire that Mitchell used an inverted V engine because he knew the Germans were going to poach design features for their fighter programme.

If its the ghost, i saw it about 5 months ago at the Army Air Aviation museum at Oakie. They said then it was not airworthy and needed some major overhaul before it could legally fly again
