Japan
activates its first Marine unit since WWII. One guess only on who helped train them.

They look older than my grandad......are they a reserve force?

Just goes to show.......cryogenics works.
I wondered where all their WW2 soldiers got to.

Still....I don't think that messing with the Japanese
would be a good idea, even now.

I think you'll find looking at their faces right across the board from thos images, these are a "Home Guard" made up of ex- servicemen, given a new lease of life with new equipment and a budget.
Good luck to them, and a very wise decision by their Government to use an already trained force to appear ready to fend off any aggressors!!!
Our Government would do the same I'm sure as they did in WW1 and WW2 when numbers dropped drastically due to losses on the battlefield

What I get from most of those faces is a very visceral reaction. I don’t know why, but it’s like the reaction you get when you run into a poisonous snake (I don’t get it from the one on the right). It’s really strange, because I have friends from all over the world. It’s like it’s in my DNA.

Vincent,
I know exactly what you mean. These images are well and truly staged and it shows in their faces............"we are not used to this PR stuff" type attitude

Funny but the one on the right doesn't look Japanese
. These may be officers that had to transfer from the Navy and or Army.
