Midway gets the ammo in periodically. Sells out pretty quick when they do so you have to keep checking with them or get on their mailing list.
The pioneer bayonet is not proper for this rifle. That belongs on the K11 and K31
only. It is one heck of a nice bayonet but you need the short bayonet for this one.
Solve your problem and buy a K11 also.

Shame, it appears like I'll have no choice. Just how long until I start wearing alpenflage and smelling like automatenfett?

Pioneer bayonets are going for $300 these days so be prepared for sticker shock or a long wait to get one at a lower price. Make sure it's the correct one also, several variations back to the Vetterlis. I put on a historical display each year and even if it isn't the right time period I take one of those because everyone loves it and If I don't take it, guys that weren't there the previous year ask about it because their buddies talked about it. It wasn't that long ago that I was waiting patiently for a K31
under $300 and a pioneer bayonet under $150. At least it doesn't seem that long ago. I did manage both feats. Couldn't do it today.

In speaking with another expert, it appears that I was mistaken about the privatization date on the rifle. It was actually repaired at an arsenal in 1925, and privatized sometime after 1964. No 1911 long rifles were out of military service before the mid-1930s.
Also, does anyone know where I can source a taller front sight for this rifle from? The 300 meter zero makes shooting at 100 yards somewhat difficult with the amount of hold-under required.

Hi, I found this German
site where they have the higher front sight.
Sportarms - Partner für Großkaliberschützen - Korn K31 oder K11 extra hoch und breit - 8,9 mm -
I don’t know if they send overseas, but I could help you with that if you had problems.

The one you liked to is for K11 and K31
rifles, the sight is different on the G11. They do have it and while they do ship overseas, it seems it wouldn't be cost effective to order from them. I would end up paying about $60USD for a front sight post.
I was hoping someone might know if anyone was reproducing these domestically.

The GP11 is pretty if not impossible, sadly.
A lot of sites list it, but when you go to them, they are out or it diverts you to PPU.
Nothing against PPU, I use the brass in a Savage built on 7.5, its good stuff.
That's some really good accuracy. My K31
likes the GP11 (a guy sent me 20 rounds to play with!) I have been able to get it good with S175M (have to load up some and shoot it, spring is here!)
My eyes don't so so good with iron sights, so the 1911 I also got (from a member here) has not been shot much but summer plans are to give it a go.
I have the scope mount on the K31. The clamp on one is dynamite solid.
