Long Branch No4 MK1* with Savage serial No's

Hi guys I just gained a long branch no4 mk1 1943 with matching numbers on the receiver and bolt. I want to find out more information about this gun. I think it was originally a long stock gun and was cut down to the short stock model but not sure any help would be appreciated!
