    The Italianicon Navy ordered flat side, large ring hammer C96 Mausers in 1899. I have read that the cutout for the large ring hammer weakened the stock and the Royal Navy Armories made repairs similar to yours. The photographs I have seen show much more metal used in the Italian repairs. Best. Tom
