Comment: Short magazine Lithgow Lee-Enfield MkIII with Lattey optical sights. Overall length 44.5 ins, Weight 8lb. 14 oz. (4.0kg). Manufactured 1915. This represents the first British and Allied forces Enfield based sniper rifle, using Galilean principle to form an open telescope. Three different variations were announced in the list of changes in 1915, this is the LATTEY version, made by Parker Hale in 1915 and fitted for use on the Western Front and at Gallipoli. They were used by the unit sharpshooters (snipers), and they had a magnification of 2-3x. They were very prone to damage and loss, and this is the reason they are so rare today. They had a narrow field of view, and were affected by dust and stray light.
This is one for the most avid collectors of Australian Sniper Rifles, and is likely to be a one off opportunity, to have a complete collection of Enfield Snipers.

Who is selling this piece Cinders? I know some specific sellers that will jack up prices on anything remotely interesting.

i had never considered how careful you would need to be to not give yourself away reflection off the front lense.

Its a private ad the transferring dealer is Target Solutions run by David Kerr thats about it you know its just not worth it really maybe $1900 - $2200 for the sight the rest is in the rifle and boy-oh! a WWI 303 ain't worth $10K.
If a person wants it and is rich enough they will pay but for the normal bloke in the street like me I have got better chances of finding aliens in Area 51.

Doesn't appear to be even WD stamped (I have a WD stamped set). My understanding is that these were produced for the civilian market too, so nothing to guarantee that this particular pair of sights were part of a procurement contract for the military or went anywhere further than Bisley.
