    FWIW - I use to have a Winchester-Lee Straight-Pull (commercial 'sporter'). It was marked on the receiver ring ".236 U.S.iconN."

    Possibly, commercial rifles and ammo, in the 6 mm Naval cartridge chambering, bore the .236 designation?
