Newby needs direction
Good afternoon all.
Thanks for the add to the group.
I have a good friend who is an avid collector of Military weapons who recently had a serious medical event. He is recovering well but asked for my help with something. He has a large collection of Enfield Rifles and wants my help in building a transit box.
He has told me it's a Chest - No.4 Mk.1 T..its mostly greek to me but if I can help him I want to. I have been able to goggle a lot of information on the chest but not basic stuff like, what wood is it made from, is it multiple pieces to make a side or one piece.
I see the top appears to be 3 parts...but again..what wood.
It's this sort of thing I am trying to find out. If anyone could direct me to a source or two I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks in advance.

This should help;
https://www.milsurps.com/content.php...S.A.-No.15-Mk1
Different counties used different types of wood but pine is most common, and depending on the width of boards on hand I have seen 1-3 boards to make a top or side.
If you need hardware PM stencollector on CGN, he had a number of Bren cases that he was scrapping due to their condition but the hinges and latches work.
I thought he was on here but appears not.

Thanks, Charlie. I thought that if I searched the members list he would pop up, never thought to check out the Advisory Panel.
