The M.G is a ways from the bridge have they taken it or are in the process of getting it as the air looks fairly clear except for that low scud of clouds.
The extreme left hand span has succumbed to the German
sappers destroying it, I think if I was the "Old Mate" G.I in the background then I would be getting my ar*se well below that bank as sitting up like that paints a very nice target.

Doubt its Remagen. The towers are square, not round and the terrain is relatively flat. Also the Remagen bridge did not collapse until sometime after it was taken and it looks like these fellows are glassing the other side like they expect the enemy to be there.

The Remagen bridge had a single arch support in the middle. This bridge a double and the left arch is collapsed.

All that's correct, haven't been there since 1980 and then it was on the fly. I think we've reviewed this bridge too and had that very discussion past...

They aren't in action, look at the gunner too, relaxed. Hard to say what's up exactly...

I was just thinking in the interests of self preservation Jim that both sides had people that were exceptional shots and stayed hidden very well and were known to take targets of opportunity, but then again if they were glassing the area you would certainly take out the chap using the Bino's.
