Very early London Colt Navy

Evening all, off to look at ( with a view to buying) a new to the market very early build London .36 Colt Navy.

It's an all matching 3 digit serial number, so a very rare beast, I believe good overall mechanical condition with an even aged finish and no pitting.

US manufacture parts, such as Silvered brass strap, as opposed to the 2000+ s/n London made iron strap.

Good luck! I look forward to the pictures. London Navies were very popular here, both official purchase (militia and Police) as well as private purchase for the Maori wars and the gold rushes. I have an option on a very nice Colt from the Otago Police Gold Escort of the 1860's. Pictures, etc. if/when I get it (some domestic diplomacy is required!).

Nice one Gil.... Off to see the piece tomorrow, I am holding my expectations in check at the moment, we all learn to that don't we.

I've been cramming up on the London Colts and they are an absolutely fascinating Colt side story all of their own.

This piece is apparently a recent discovery, I believe from a deceased estate and is still covered in what I am led to believe is grease.

I have been told its all matching 3 digit serial and in 300 range. This would make it in the first week or two of the Pimlico factory opening. I would imagine that these very early examples are almost exclusively assembled from US supplied parts, but we will see.

The common sense side of my brain is trying to keep the exited child side of me in check at the moment....

Revolver deal in the bag guys, picking her up on Friday.

No 392. As far as I know, a previously unknown and rare surviving very early London Navy.

All matching, in excellent mechanical order, nipple's, bore, cylinder, action all good with some surface loss, but a lot of original blue remaining.

I doubt it's been fired since it's trip to the London proof house.

Happy as a dog with two dicks!

Edit ....

I cant pick the piece up until Friday as she is being photographed for a forthcoming Book on the London Colts at some point this week.

The Author apparently wants it in 'as found' condition, so here is a quick phone pic before she disappeared back in the safe. Cant wait to get her home and carefully clean and oil her up.

Very nice, "As found" seems to be OK in this case. We'll see when the comprehensive pics arrive.
