Canvas L42a1 carry case fact or make believe ?
Good day . Can any one provide information on the canvas issued carry case for the L42a1 ? Was it ever issued or was it just a item that never made it off the drawing board ?

It's just a "Cover, short rifle" that's been lengthened by adding a piece of material to it. You still can't get the rifle in with a scope fitted. I have one original with one of my rifles but have never seen many over the past 20 years or so. I've had plenty of standard, original "Cover, short rifle" cases. In fact I have a couple for sale.

Brain were any made up from U.S. carry cases for the 1903 Springfield rifle ? What would be a fair price for one today ? Thanks .

There is already an extensive thread here on that very subject. Have a search for L42A1 soft carry case.

Thanks for the information. So it looks like the case as pictured in the Pamphlet , a convert U.S. Springfield case is not correct and never used at all for the L42a1 . I would like to think that a owner of a L42a1 using a official British
Pamphlet showing the case as being correct would not be told it any so .
