Unusually rough Yugoslavian Mauser

Picked this Yugoslavian M48A up today at the local gun show. It stood out to me because of the unusually rough condition. The majority of Yugo Mausers seen around here are in excellent shape, so this one really got my attention.
Original sling was with it as well.
I first assumed that it must be a relic from the Yugoslav wars, but found that these went to Syria, Iraq, Egypt, etc. Maybe spent some time in one of those areas?
Lots and lots of little proofs all over it, the 'BK' in a circle especially. The buttcap is blued as opposed to the bright metal I've seen on others.
Certainly not a huge collector piece, but pretty interesting compared to the like new examples one encounters here. I would really be interested in knowing where this one has been!

Forgot to mention..this may actually be an M48B, as the triggerguard is stamped.

When our guys went there in the winter of '92, they found many weapons hidden outside under haystacks. These very rifles and others... I wonder if this one had a similar experience?

One does have to wonder..as I pointed out, this one stood out because of the rough shape. I can't imagine it getting that way in storage, as Yugoslavia had a pretty regimented system of maintaining these weapons.

That is a rough one. Still looks in fair usable shape though. How's the bore? Have you shot it yet? I got one of these about 5 years ago and it was like brand new. I would restore it.

Shoots great..bore isn't half bad! Don't think I'll restore it, like the look. Too many 'like new' ones around here as it is.
