Yes a longer range is always preferable to estimating at a shorter range. However, the amount of height above your POA is proportional to POI at a longer range. Is it match accuracy? No but probably "minute of deer". If your ballistic program reports a 300 yard zero, it will also give you the over/under at other ranges. There are always a large number of variables, altitude, temperature, bore condition, shooter, that will have an impact on the down range POI.
