Yes but where and when? They're in fighting order and cold weather gear and one man has frag apparent...I thought maybe Germany
but the frag would be out of place.

I am surprised they are using mess tray in a field environment. Usually it's the old mess kit. I figure the photo is from the late 50's to early 60's based on the head gear and uniform patches and name tapes.

Come to think of it, I saw the brow party on board the USS Alamo close up with four plus other weapons back in ...'78 I think it was...I'd think they were out of service for infantry though.
