"...still has a BNP proof..." Sold through
England
. Anything rebuilt in the
Canadian
Arsenals Longbranch Plant would not have Brit proof marks.
Yep, knew that, Could be misremembering though, I'll have another look see tomorrow night after I get back home.
Check the headspace on both before you shoot 'em. Matching numbers does not guarantee that the bolt head hasn't been changed.
Got my Arrowmark headspace gauges years ago. I also have appx 20 different LB and CA marked boltheads just in case the heapspace is a little long.
Gunparts is currently out of original mags. They do have Promag replacements. They look like cut down FAL or
M14
mags. $30 for a No. 4 mag.
Those promag magazines are junk, got one once attached to a No1MkIII*. I think I used it as a fishing weight. Still have an extra mag or two, although my supply is getting thin.
"...foreend had been bobbed..." It still have the bayonet lugs? Check the barrel length too. Gunparts does have stock parts.
Barrel length original and bayonet lugs in place. Currently have about 12 stock sets lying about. Hardest part to find without resorting to Springfield Sporters or Numrich is the little machine screw that fits the front sight protector. Same size and thread as the back screw for the trigger guard, but length is different.
"...unless it's a Garand..." There is something about 'em no other rifle has.
