Well done I was wondering who would spot that first, as Captain Mainwaring would say!

I was looking at the cross swords proof and 'saw' an M.

"...as it is fitted to the rifle..." It's the only bolt head that matters. Bolt heads don't get fitted to the bolt either. They get changed to adjust the head space using proper gauges. Who made the bolt head doesn't matter either.
