Any one seen a sling like this before?

A friend of mine gave me this sling. It was old and super toasty like its been in a attic more than few decades. I have oiled it and bringing it back to life but i still cants figure out what it is. It does have a makers mark. IMD (over an arrow) 10 11 30. it is 51 inches long when not doubled over. any one have any idea? it is old but i have no idea how old.

I have seen them but can't remember where or what they go on. Austro-Hungarian M95's took a sling with that type of adjustment hook but this isn't one of them. Probably something from the black powder days as you assumed.

i can find things that look some what like it but not exactly what it is. It kind of looks like a an enfield sling and sort of like a Springfield sling but it is not either of those. it does look almost like the confederate reproductions slings on E Bay, the style of hoop and the construction are the same but the repros are made of linen. but there is no telling exactly what it is and other than the faint stamp there is no other markings on it. Post WW1 Bulgarian for their use of the M95, certainly not for Austria-Hungary, the A-H sling used no hook and was wider with a standing loop on one end for adjustment and a buckle on the other end for attachment to the front band. Sorry musketshooter, but I have to disagree, it has no similarity to the US M1855 sling. Both Northern and CS forces used that pattern sling.

As I said in my post above, Bulgarian dating to the 1920s and later.
