QH used the last version I believe called Type I Variation C receiver. Having NO HOLES cut thru the rail. The tube won't have the tab that connects like the earlier spring tube receivers.
Just keep the inside of the tube clean and oiled.
It will outlast both of us.

Yep. Already back home, safe ands sound. It ended up being a best case scenario when they went in. Repaired the torn meniscus, cleaned out the joint, then put me out the door. It was easier this time than the last one, 10 years ago! Even though it was the same type surgery, I was in a basketball size wrap, and on crutches for two weeks. This time I have a small wrap, full load bearing, and a cane when I need it! I can already bend the knee! looks like I CAN pick up my Quality tomorrow when the 10 day jail expires.

Now that we're Off Topic,
I shot enough of these last night while in the basement to set off the smoke alarms..... just as the Wife was coming in from having dinner with the girls.

Alright I got it. Barrel appears to be the original Rockola with a Itailan FAT star proof in the top of the barrel by the receiver, and the Bolt is a correct round EM=Q. Inland trigger housing, S'G' hammer, Inland trigger housing, Rockola Type 4 slide, SW sear. Trigger looks like "2 3" on it. Completely stripped it down, and replaced the ejector spring, extractor spring, and the recoil spring (which was about 10") with a NOS 10 1/4" USGI. The finish on barrel and receiver are really good, and the bore is crisp with no pitting, I did have the trigger spring fly off into never never land, and did not have a spare. I had to fabricate a temporary replacement fro a Bersa Firestorm magazine spring. It works OK, but I need to find another USGI one.
The overall finish is excellent! Very little slide wear or wear in the receiver channel. Overall, it is the nicest condition carbine I have ever had, with the exception of the correct early Inland I had that was 95%. I will do a daylight picture tomorrow.

This thing had LOTS of cosmolene inside the trigger housing and bolt. I stripped it all down, cleaned it, and used Ballistol to lube. The ejector spring was solid with hard, dead cosmo, I pulled it out, cleaned out its channel, and replaced with a fresh NOS late model ejector and NOS spring. Extractor looks good, but the markings were too faint. Gave that a fresh NOS spring also.
I had to order some parts, so I have a NOS USGI trigger spring coming. The fabricated one will work until then. I have a couple dozen 15 rounders, and half have NOS USGI mag springs in them. I got them from Numrich a couple years ago, a dozen wrapped in wax paper and cosmolene. I have 9 30 rounders, of which two are AI split backs, and five are Vietnam era J (Jahn) and OKay mags. I replaced the springs in them with NOS USGI replacements (packaged in OKay packaging) that I got from Chestnut Ridge before they sold out of Carbine parts. I also have two commercial 30s that are not too bad, but I ordered USGI 30 round springs for them, too. Their springs sucked!.

Well now... Though I live in a area in the mountains where everyone has 3-20 acres, I generally refrain from shooting where I live, except whacking coyote that come in too close to the house. I decided however, a couple shots from the carbine would not irritate the neighbors, as occasional gunshots in these woods are fairly common. that I wanted to see how close the Type II sight was.
The sight housing is centered in the bridge, and the sight ramp is about centered in the housing. It appears to have the original, unaltered front sight. Leaning on the back deck, I held a 6 o'clock hold on a softball sized rock (crumbly decomposed granite) about 80 yards away, and fired a shot of my Rainier copper plated lead 110s over 14.6 grains of WW296. Smacked the rock dead center and made it into gravel. Sighted on another crumbly rock 5 yards farther and duplicated it! I will dial it in at the range later, but that seems pretty good to me!

I also have an AR-15 and a Mini-30. The M1 Carbine, however, is my favorite rifle to shoot. The Mini-30 is a very close second, by the M1 Carbine is tops. An M1 Carbine was the first centerfire rifle I ever shot. I was 10 (1962) and visiting my cousin, who was a US Postal Inspector in Kentucky. We went to a rock quarry, and we were shooting at cans with the M1 Carbine. At 60 yards I hit a "Bubble Up" can (early competitor to 7 Up) dead center. I had that can for years, losing it in a move about 30 years later.
