The runway is still used today as a flying school, landing lights and all.
Have a look at this link, the annual service was held three weeks ago where pilots from USAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall came over to pay their respects:

I don't think that is William Holden it the right seat. That bloke looks like another actor from the day, but I can't remember who.
