I think Reinhart Fajen did those... I guess at one time there were tons of M1
carbines around.

I'd like to say that it's tastefully done as some sporterized carbines I've seen have been, but this one is definitely not. I guess it boils down to a different era of collecting the M1
carbine and what a particular owner did with it.
I'm sure there were a lot of carbines available back then, but they are hardly rare, even by today's standards. Now I know there some carbines that are more desirable than others, but even some of the rarer versions can been found in various configurations if someone knows where to look. The bottom line is that the numbers of collectors has increased and the whole demand thing makes thing more interesting.

It reminds me of slavery. At one time it was a societal norm acknowledged officially throughout the world as existing for all races. Now an antiquated historical occurence no longer justified, though still existing in black markets in all regions of the world but kept out of obvious view, for a good reason.

Through today's eyes it's, AHKKK! Hey let's not allow that anymore. But you know it's still happening somewhere.

When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
