Carbine back in "front line" service, sort of....
Well, a good friend has a serious coyote problem, and I made the mistake of telling him how good of a coyote whacker my Mini-30 is. So he borrowed it for a bit.
Since I have not had a coyote problem so far this year, (and even if I did, 125 yards is a far as I can shoot), I didn't mind him using it. With that in mind, I loaded up the Quality Hardware with Hornady Critical Defense ammo, and temporarily replacing the Mini-30s in its job as a Home Defense Carbine and Coyote Whacker. Considering I had killed Black Tail deer at 100 yards with a carbine, a Coyote should also succumb.
I have no problem depending on the carbine as a Home Defense carbine. With three 15 round mags (one in it and two in the Type I stock pouch) it is a very handy, self contained 45 rounds of whoop-@ss! About 20 years ago, I ran off a car load of Goblins that showed up at my house in the woods at 3 AM using my M1
Carbine, though it MAY have been pointed at them as they pulled into my yard with the lights out! I stepped out on my porch as they pulled in, leveled the carbine at them and said "Hello boys, do you want to play?" They could not get out of there fast enough.
as Sun Tsu said something to the effect of "the best battle is the one that you win without having to fight it!"

Imarangemaster. Nice to see an old warhorse still in service protecting home and hearth. By the war, how do you like the Hornady ammo in the carbine. I'm thinking of using it for White Tail deer this fall? Gork

Never shot a deer with one, but I know people that have. I can attest to the fact that it will open-up an armadillo ....and they wear body-armor.

So when did they stop being a super PDW? When I camp one rides in my camper, on car trips one with an after market folding stock rides in a tennis racket case in my trunk. Plan is to use my pistol to fight my way to the carbine.
Ed reluctantly no longer in the Bitterroot

the m1 fell out of favor when they started making 9mm based versions of the m3 greasegun. Yah know, that UZI thing didn't help either.
just wasn't small enough anymore. and the cartridge most likely had to much recoil for something like an uzi to be usable with

It fell out of favor when the assorted idiot governments started deciding the Carbine was an "assualt" rifle.
Think Speer 110 grain HP's with IMR4227 for a deer load. Makes a big grapefruit sized hole in Wiley too. Hard on the hides though.
Spelling and Grammar count!

Good to see you here Sunray. Been a long time since I saw you posting.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
