Here are a couple of shots from the multiple burial we worked. In one shot you can see three feet almost full articulated. One was still attached to its tibia and fibula (lower leg bones). The skull of one poor fellow had the heal and toes of two different feet inside it. All the feet had remnents of shoes around them. We found 10 Japanese coins in the botom of thier fox hole.

When I first saw that hole I thought it might be a traumatic injury, but as I cleaned it out I saw that it was post-mortem. The bones are very brittle and break easily. That hole was punched in rather recently, probably as part of our disturbance. The bones have not been cleaned yet, but I saw no obvious anti-mortem injuries on the bones.

Do you turn the remains over to the Japanese Embassy?

ah ok, Have a background in funeral services, and the mark from a distance def looked like effects of possible pistol round or other small projectile, and def would need to see upclose to be sure was a injury sustained prior to burial or not. Awesome work your doing, as that type of archaeology at battlesites always facinates me with what is found, especially the pics. keep up the good work!
