    There was walnut furniture available in Canadaicon for the Colt SP1 rifles and the SGW clones of the period, approx. late '80's early 90's to be exact. Yes, the rifles looked very nice in walnut, however, the top vent cutout tabs in the handguards broke just as easily as those in the glass fibre originals.

    Very TRUE, the vents are very fragile. Finishing them required extra special care. And they would never hold up in a combat situation. But it sure smells good when the wood gets to smoking a little. She is my showboat stock. Most of my service rifles have a Sunday dress.
