Subcontractor for Maranyl SLR furniture?

Hi guys,

I was going to put some Maranyl furniture on one of my SLRs, and took a look for markings. I've seen other pieces marked by Enfield with 1980s dates, but the stock and handguards in this set are marked "INT" with nothing that looks like a year code.

This was supposed to have been a new-in-package set when I bought it. Was INT a subcontractor for Enfield, or did I get duped with aftermarket goods?

INT was INTERARMS and they were contractors, not for Enfield as such but to U&K MIlitary ordnance. Usually from the mid 80's

INTERARMS(Interarmco) was a huge dealer/exporter of milsurps in general. They make stuff for the British military too?

That's interesting, I also thought they were more of dealer/ exporter/importer.

Samuel Cummings and his company Interarms were into everything. My post sample L4A3 Bren is one that was FTR'd by them in Manchester for potential resale to countries still using them in the 1980's. It's like new. They also got a huge loads of service grade No.4's from the disposals unit at Donnington as well as South Africa in the late 80's and early 90's. Some of the finest No.4 rifles I've ever seen or handled. To think I had hundreds available here just 20 years ago!

Yeah. Sad to look back and think of the good ole days as the 80’s and 90’s. But that is what the surplus world is like. Wonder what beauties will be overestimated over the next decade!?

Well, nothing will come from the UK, everything Firearms related is heading into the skip unfortunately.

Yep, mrclark303 is correct. British and Commonwealth stores have been surplused already and anything from here on in will most likely be destroyed. I just saw a South African owned Long Branch No.4 on Joe Salter's site for $1295. It's definitely an IAC import. I had a handful of Long Branch mfg. and a considerable amount of Savage mfg. when i bought 400 from IAC in the late 90's via a big distributor here in SC. I'm glad I hung on to one that's about the same as the one he has listed condition wise. An excellent condition rifle banged up a bit from handling, (most likely after being surplused), but honest and original.

I seem to recall that the black plastic furniture was made by a manufacturer in or near Manchester called Marleyfoam. There, another bit of useless Enfield related info.........
