    I think that the yellow matting was it being iodine (?) based wash impregnated as a preservative. In much the same way as the type 'B' suffix pull-throughs were impregnated in some vile smelling green stuff. Vile smelling until the crunchies and Armourers got their smelly OX52icon oil soaked hands on them!
