Are no4 mk1 and no4 mk2 extractor springs the same?

Time to replace my extractor spring on my no4 mk2... The rifle ejects dummy rounds just fine, as the dummy cases are bulleted, making the dummies long enough to hit the ejector screw in back of receiver. However, it's not ejecting spent cases, they just fly right back into the receiver. I stripped the bolt head apart and examined it... Spring has seen better days I believe... Reassembled bolt head to not lose anything... So after researching I see springs for no4 mk1 rifles but don't see any that explicitly say no4 mk2 rifles... So is a No4 ejector spring a no4 ejector spring that will work with either the no4 mk1 or no4 mk2 rifles? Just looking for reassurance... Thanks guys, I appreciate any feedback!!!

Wow no idea. I'm glad I asked. Still searching Google for a mk2 spring and haven't found any at all.

They are the same. If you need some nos original No.4 extractor springs I have plenty. Email to bdlltd@bellsouth.net. Beware the aftermarket springs that are dicey to say the least.

The extractor and its spring have nothing to do with ejection. The extractor spring is there to return the extractor to its 'start' position after the case head is under the extractor and after ejection. It doesn't power ejection though.
"...Spring has seen better days..." Maybe, maybe not. $10.80US for a new repro($15.70 for a brand new one. $13.50 for a used unknown condition one.) at Gunparts.
"...long enough to hit the ejector screw..." OAL length doesn't matter. Case length does.
"...it's not ejecting spent cases..." It's most likely that you're not operating the bolt with enough, um, vigor.
Oh and the only difference between a Mk I/Mk I* and a Mk II is where the trigger connects to the receiver.

The extractor spring is key to strong ejection since it holds the fired case hard against the channel in the left side of the body which guides it to the ejector screw.

Anyone who wants original, new old stock No.4 extractor springs can get them from me @ $10 each. You can buy crap repros from Sarco and GPC if you want for more money but you'll be wasting it because in my experience, they don't work well if at all.

Brian is correct. The spring forces the rim against the shallowing sidewall of the body and causes the extractor to act as a fulcrum to eject the case.

I'll bow to the superior knowledge on here but in the past when buying spares I've been offered two distinct types, one with a much shorter side which was marked for No.4's only.
Is this just a difference in manufacture?
